1. Overview & Architectural Tenets
Clean Days is an offline-first recovery and clean time tracker designed to provide a calm, anonymous, and dependable companion for individuals in addiction recovery, 12-Step fellowships (such as Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous), and anyone walking the path of sobriety.
Unlike commercial applications that monetize recovery through advertising trackers, user behavior profiling, or cloud synchronization, Clean Days does not operate user databases or tracking infrastructure. You retain 100% data sovereignty over your recovery records at all times.
2. Information Stored Locally on Your Device
When you use Clean Days, all data you generate is saved exclusively inside your smartphone's sandboxed local application storage (AsyncStorage). This includes:
- Clean Date and Time: The date and time you set as your recovery start point.
- Display Name / Nickname: An optional personalized greeting chosen by you.
- Gratitude & Journal Reflections: Any personal thoughts or daily gratitude entries you voluntarily write.
- Meditation & Breathing Logs: Mindful session counts and minutes logged during breathing practice.
- Sleep & Mood Records: Hours slept and emotional balance ratings logged to track personal HALT patterns.
- Application Preferences: Theme settings, tactile haptic feedback toggles, and local notification reminder schedules.
None of this information is ever uploaded to our servers, shared with third parties, or transmitted over the internet.
3. Offline Data Export & Backup Sovereignty
Clean Days includes a manual JSON Data Export feature in Settings > Export Recovery Data. This allows you to generate a plaintext file containing your milestone history to back up or transfer to another phone. You have complete control over where this file is stored (e.g., your local documents folder or personal private cloud drive) and who it is shared with.
4. Network Operations & External Communications
Clean Days operates virtually entirely offline. The only network operation performed by the application occurs when you browse the Virtual Meetings Hub:
- BMLT Virtual Meeting Directory: To display upcoming 24/7 recovery meetings, the application queries public, open Basic Meeting List Toolbox (BMLT) directory endpoints.
- No Personal Identifiers: These queries are standard anonymous HTTP GET requests. No personal information, user identifiers, device IDs, advertising tokens, or tracking parameters are transmitted.
5. Android Operating System Permissions
Clean Days strictly complies with Google Play's principle of least privilege and requests zero sensitive or dangerous device permissions. The app declares only:
android.permission.INTERNET: Used exclusively to query public 24/7 virtual recovery meeting schedules from open BMLT servers.android.permission.VIBRATE: Used to provide soothing tactile haptic feedback during meditation breathing intervals and milestone celebrations.android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: Used to restore your offline local daily reflection notification schedule when your device restarts.android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS: On Android 13 (API level 33) and higher, allows the app to display scheduled local morning reflections and affirmations. (No remote push servers or external messaging providers are used).
6. Third-Party Services & Advertising
- Zero Advertising: Clean Days is 100% ad-free. No ad networks, ad mediation SDKs, or banner integrations are included in the app.
- Zero Analytics & Telemetry: We do not track user events or screen navigation using Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Segment, or Facebook SDK.
7. Children's Privacy
Clean Days is intended for adults and individuals seeking addiction recovery support, habit tracking, and peer fellowship tools. Because the application collects no personal information whatsoever from any user, we do not knowingly solicit, collect, or maintain personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under the age of 16 in the European Economic Area).
8. Data Retention & Permanent Deletion
Because all information is stored strictly on your local device:
- You can reset or wipe all recovery records at any time from within the application by navigating to Settings > Reset Recovery Data.
- Uninstalling Clean Days from your Android device immediately and permanently purges all local sandboxed application data.
